MultiSector Dynamics: Towards Applied Solutions for Local Decision-Makers

Session Description:
The MultiSector Dynamics (MSD) community has made substantial progress in representing complex, coupled human-earth systems at regional to global scales. As these models mature, opportunities emerge for methods to generate local, applied solutions for cities, local stakeholders, or local governments. We position this session at the intersection of coupled systems modeling and applied decision-making to help connect and translate large, multi-scale models to local users This session invites contributions that address challenges in “downscaling” MSD models (methodologically, computationally, and institutionally) and present applications that explore real-world decisions. We welcome submissions that span multidisciplinary subject areas and those focusing on compound events or cascading failures. Studies that integrate MSD outputs with local data, decision frameworks, and stakeholder needs, including infrastructure resilience, and water-energy-land systems are particularly relevant. This session will emphasize opportunities to bridge scales between coarser-scale models and local frameworks for decision-making.
