Air Pollution and Meteorology Extremes: Trends, Mechanisms, and Impacts

Session Description:
Air pollution (e.g., aerosols and ozone) and weather extremes (e.g., heatwaves, drought, stagnation, tropical cyclones) pose challenges to public health, food security, and economic productivity. These environmental hazards are also deeply interconnected through coupled physical, chemical, and dynamical processes.

This session invites contributions on the following topics:

  • Trends, drivers, and impacts of individual pollution sources or meteorology extremes
  • The co-occurrences, interactions, and underlying mechanisms of air pollution and weather extremes
  • The societal, health, and ecological impacts of these processes

We welcome studies using observational, modeling, theoretical, and AI/Machine Learning approaches, and encourage interdisciplinary perspectives that bridge atmospheric chemistry, climate dynamics, and impact assessments.
