Agroecosystem Dynamics of Carbon, Nitrogen, and Energy fluxes

Session Description:
Agroecosystems occupy a large fraction of the Earth’s land surface and play a critical role in regulating exchanges of carbon, water, energy, and reactive nitrogen within the atmosphere. These fluxes are influenced by both management practices (e.g., tillage, planting, harvesting, grazing) and environmental variability, including climate extremes. Understanding how these factors shape ecosystem functioning remains a key challenge, particularly given their effects on primary productivity, evapotranspiration, energy balance, and trace gas fluxes (e.g., CO₂, N₂O, NH₃, NOₓ).

This session invites contributions that examine carbon, water, nitrogen, and energy fluxes in agroecosystems and how they are influenced by management and environmental conditions. We welcome studies using eddy covariance, flux-gradient methods, chamber measurements, remote sensing, and modeling approaches. By bringing together observational and modeling studies, this session aims to improve understanding of agroecosystem function and identify pathways for enhancing resource use efficiency and resilience under a changing climate.
