Gravity Waves, from the Surface to the Edge of Space

Session Description:
Gravity waves are a vital component of the atmospheric and oceanic systems at all heights. Through the transport of energy and momentum, they play a key role in the coupling of different layers and regions, as well as interacting with each other, with tides, and with the background state. This session will bring together researchers from dynamics, chemistry, and space physics working on gravity waves and related problems, in the atmosphere from the tropospheric boundary layer to the ionosphere/thermosphere system and beyond to the oceans and the planets. We welcome talks using all techniques, including observations, modeling, and theory.
