Session Description:
NASA’s DRIVE Science Centers were established to tackle "grand challenge" problems that exceed the scope of individual PI-led grants. As the three current centers — COFFIES, SHIELD, and CGS — reach full operational maturity, this session highlights the major scientific milestones and cross-disciplinary breakthroughs made possible by the center-scale organizational structure.
We invite contributions that showcase how the DRIVE framework facilitates transformative science, focusing on:
- Scientific Achievements: High-impact results that required the integration of multiple sub-disciplines.
- Collaborative Infrastructure: Development of community-accessible models, open-source codebases , and standardized data products that serve the broader heliophysics community.
- Center Effectiveness: Insights into the management of large, multi-institutional collaborations.
- Strategic Legacy: Plans for sustaining research momentum and ensuring that the centers continue to drive discovery beyond the formal lifecycle of the program.
By combining technical scientific results with the "lessons learned", this session aims to provide a roadmap for future collaborative efforts across Heliophysics.
