Frontiers in Stormwater and Flood Modeling, Measurements, and Management

Session Description:
Stormwater is a leading cause of flooding and impaired water quality worldwide. Processes of storm runoff generation, flooding, and quality can be impacted by changing climatic conditions, increasing urbanization, and altered catchment hydrology. New research is needed to understand, predict, and manage the impacts of interacting drivers on stormwater quantity, flooding, and quality. Typical challenges include scarcity of observational data, lack of alternative modeling and management tools, complex land cover/uses, and engagement of diverse stakeholders. This session welcomes contributions with basic and applied research on stormwater runoff, flooding, and quality in both inland and coastal urban-natural environments. We invite abstracts on the frontiers of stormwater research, including data collections, analyses, modeling, predictions, and management of water quantity and quality across a wide range of time, space, and process scales. We aim to bring together scientists from various disciplines, including climatology, hydrology, geomorphology, biogeochemistry, ecology, socioeconomics, and related other disciplines.
