Environmental Change and Civilization Evolution along the Ancient Silk Road
Environmental Change and Civilization Evolution along the Ancient Silk Road
Session ID#: 75044
Session Description:
The Ancient Silk Road played important roles in shaping the spatiotemporal pattern of civilization evolution in the Old World, which is the major routes for trans-Eurasia exchange and witnessed rise and fall of many ancient civilizations. The Arid Central Asia (ACA), central part of the Ancient Silk Road is very sensitive to global climate change and human activities. Water resources change in the area is very drastic and exerts significant influence on civilization evolution. Moreover, trans-Eurasia culture exchange in ACA can be traced back to late prehistoric period and laid the foundation for the formation of the Ancient Silk Road. This session aims to explore the history of trans-Eurasia exchange, civilization evolution and climate and environment change, as well as relationship among them in the areas along the Ancient Silk Road. We welcome presentations concerning these issues from multi-disciplinary perspectives, to promote the advancements of research in the field.
