Complex System Dynamics and Analytics across the Geophysical Sciences
Complex System Dynamics and Analytics across the Geophysical Sciences
Session ID#: 78510
Session Description:
Our planet is a complex dynamical system involving a coherent diversity of processes and interactions across spatio-temporal scales. Albeit its dynamical complexity, core fundamental principles regulate individual and cooperative processes and interactions, ultimately relating to the overall system dynamics.
This session focuses on advances in theoretical and applied studies in information physics and complex system dynamics, eliciting regimes, transitions and extremes, along with their physical understanding, predictability and uncertainty. Moreover, it welcomes research on dynamic coevolution among earth system processes of geophysical, ecological and anthropogenic nature. The session further encourages discussion on mathematical and physical approaches to earth system dynamics and predictability, ranging from traditional stochastic-dynamic and information-theoretic formulations to far-from-equilibrium statistical mechanics and evolutionary agent-based modelling. Contributions are welcome from a diverse, interdisciplinary community united by the passion for understanding Planet Earth, working with diverse approaches in dynamical modelling, data mining and analysis grounded on fundamental physical principles.
