Implementing and Sustaining Active Learning Strategies in the College Classroom
Session ID#: 80280
Session Description:
In an effort to enroll and retain more undergraduate students, STEM departments have started to assess outcomes from the development and implementation of active learning and student-centered teaching approaches. In this session, we would like to discuss your experiences with the use of active-learning and student-centered strategies in your STEM courses, including the successes you have had and any barriers you have had to overcome. Possible topics include: flipped classroom, discovery-based teaching or research courses, collaborative learning groups, maker spaces, and technology-enabled active learning. We are especially interested in submissions on active learning strategies in introductory courses that have promoted beneficial outcomes for students, such as increased retention, course completion, or improved learning.
