Protecting Earth’s Climate for the Next Centennial
Session ID#: 83754
Session Description:
The aim of this session is to explore a broad, multi-disciplinary view of the state-of-the-art for what we can and must do to protect Earth’s climate out to 2120 and beyond. The expertise and activities of many AGU sections are relevant to this question, including biogeosciences, atmospheric sciences, global environmental change, education, and societal impacts and policy sciences. This session will feature an invited oral session, a contributed poster session, and a contributed oral session. We invite contributions from all areas of AGU that can speak to maintaining a habitable climate on this planet. Topics of interest include what atmospheric concentration and emissions trajectories need to be, emerging climate mitigation approaches for both emission reductions and CO2 removal, and the important roles of education, shifts in human behavior, and policy .
