Physical Properties of Earth Materials (PPEM): From Micro to Macro, and Back Again
Physical Properties of Earth Materials (PPEM): From Micro to Macro, and Back Again
Session ID#: 157886
Session Description:
The properties of Earth materials affect geological processes at all scales. This is true for length scales (from atomic arrangements to tectonic plates and planets), timescales (from less than a second to millions of years), and related rates (from mantle turnover to shock impacts). This session will focus on the deformation processes and rheology of rocks, minerals, and analog materials at all portions of the micro-to-macro scale from Earth’s surface to its core. We invite contributions from field studies, laboratory experiments, geophysical investigations, theoretical analyses, and any combination thereof.
