Tethered AeroSystems
Tethered AeroSystems
Session ID#: 159249
Session Description:
The use of Tethered AeroSystems such as kites and moored balloons is on the rise for local-scale atmospheric and terrestrial observations. Advancements in instrumentation and flight systems are enabling new and exciting capabilities for capturing detailed observations for field research, routine measurements, and flight operations training. Recent work includes rapid development of novel Tethered AeroSystems, improved accuracy of measured data, and more effective field testing. High altitude capabilities are under development, as are concepts for planetary exploration. Presentations will include traditional, developmental, and notional concepts, as well as experimental approaches and results.
