General Session: Atmospheric Physics, Radiation, Clouds, and Aerosols
Session ID#: 159615
Session Description:
Atmospheric physics, radiation, clouds and aerosols lie at the heart of climate forcing and feedbacks, and the interactions between changes in atmospheric composition and dynamics, along with ocean, ice and land-surface physical, chemical and biological processes. This session aims to stimulate discussion across a broad spectrum of atmospheric physics, radiation, clouds and aerosols fields. We hope to provide a forum for innovative and exciting ideas, technologies and approaches that address long standing, emerging, and crosscutting scientific problems, especially those that contribute to the main sources of uncertainty in understanding, predicting and projecting climate variability and change and are missing from current, near-term plans by major agencies and other organizations. This includes efforts straddling observational and modeling investigations that could offer insights into the major processes and factors governing the sensitivity of the global and regional climate states and their change, including extremes. We also welcome reviews of existing work that offer perspectives on what new research efforts could have the biggest impact on reducing climate prediction uncertainty.
