What are the Challenges in Monitoring, Forecasting, and Managing Air Quality in the Global South ?
Session ID#: 162134
Session Description:
Deteriorating air quality, its immediate health impacts, and short-to-long term regional and global climate impacts have gained much attention in recent decades. Addressing these pollution impacts requires holistic research as well as air quality management and mitigation approaches that take into account the diversity of pollution sources as well as socio-economic contexts found across the world. This session focuses on the low, middle income, and developing countries. This session invites both the research, application, and air quality management community to collectively:
- share research and application of observations (surface, satellite, air-borne) and modeling approaches to study air quality and its impacts.
- share work that identifies the gaps from data to equity, that can potentially bridge research and policy areas for improved air quality management
- share innovative approaches on use of data from the next generation of technology (such as satellites, low-cost sensors, etc) for air quality monitoring and forecasting
