The "academy" has historically and continuously been a site of great privilege. Who has written and who has had the opportunity to access these bodies of knowledge have forever been fraught with issues of capital and class. My interest in this panel is to consider the possibilities for radical pedagogy and collective knowledge both inside and outside of the classroom. Since the age of mechanical reproduction, knowledge has become ever more decentralized (to a benefit, I would argue.) How can we engage in shared practices of knowledge production and dissemination to benefit those outside of the institution, and teach our students to engage in practices of radical knowledge-sharing and production? How can we apply humanity's great body of knowledge through various media to the benefit of society? What are pedagogical practices we might employ to inspire our students to employ their knowledge as "weapons" against oppressive forces of domination in a late-capitalist society?
