Art History Funding at a Research University

Art History departments in the United States have traditionally relied on a combination of institutional resources, departmental endowments, and external funding to support their graduate students. Recent changes in university funding models and a dramatic reduction of external opportunities are testing, however, the sustainability of many graduate programs. Based on the experience of the Art History department at the University of Delaware, this presentation considers some of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
