Breeding programs and large scale genotypic and phenotypic projects produce large datasets that require efficient management system to keep track of performance, pedigree, geographical and environmental metadata. In addition, it is instrumental to integrate large scale phenotypic data with exponentially increasing genomic data to accelerate marker-assisted breeding tools and to enhance genetic understanding of important crop traits. To efficiently integrate the phenotypic data with other genomic and genetic data in Rosaceae crops, we converted the underlying database of GDR to Chado, the generic, modular and ontology-driven database schema for biological data. The recently added Natural diversity module allows us to store large-scale phenotypic and genotypic data from various projects and to fully integrate with the genetic and genomics data that are stored in other modules of Chado. This presentation will describe how the data are stored and demonstrate various web interfaces to access the breeding data and breeding decision tools in GDR.
