As image and data sciences continue to have a transformative effect on how modern plant breeding is practiced, the value of a sensorial presence of the “breeder’s eye” is replaced by automated conversion of biological observations into numerical outputs. Such a process lacks the capability to capture and integrate valuable breeder’s insight- a hybrid knowledge that is built on years of experience and scientific foundations. KeyGene’s innovation team has worked diligently to create a platform that efficiently integrates a breeders sensorial and mental presence with the high-throughput image and data processing abilities. In this presentation, we invite the audience for a sneak preview of its proprietary, virtual reality based tool that integrates the qualitative and quantitative aspects of plant breeding. The presentation showcases, for the first time, how KeyGene’s immersive VR environment expands professional insight and enables better decision-making by integrating imaging data with genotyping and phenotyping datasets.
